Carbon Literacy Training for SMEs

Thursday 18th & Friday 19th August, 9:30am – 1:00pm

This event is held over two half days.

No previous environment knowledge is required to attend this course. This course will provide you with the knowledge and tools you require for helping you start with your journey to combat climate change.

East Midlands Accelerator 

Ongoing until 30th September 2022

East Midlands Chamber is leading a collaborative partnership of our region’s universities and business support agencies, to deliver business support in a number of areas, including net zero business practices. 

The East Midlands Accelerator programme is available to businesses in 7 areas: Derbyshire Dales, High Peak, Mansfield, Nottingham City, Leicester City, Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood. The project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund that runs until 30 September 2022.

Derbyshire Manufacturing Network Meeting

Tuesday 6th September, 8:00 – 9:45am

The Enterprise Centre, Derby City

This event is to be hosted at one of the University of Derby sites, so why not join us at the Derbyshire Manufacturing Network?

Guests are invited to come along to tell the network what is important to them and their business, developing trust between all members and shaping the network. 
    
The Derbyshire Network forms part of the umbrella East Midlands Manufacturing Network which is led by East Midlands Chamber.   The East Midlands Manufacturing Network unites local manufacturing companies, to enable members to harness the cross-industry, business, engineering and manufacturing knowledge necessary to evolve and expand. Memberws are provided with opportunities to share their experiences with other industry professionals and obtain unique insights into new technologies, resources and information.

This course would be beneficial for those that need to do something to get you started on your journey to combat climate change and are working for or with an SME in the fashion retail sector, then through this course you will get the tools and knowledge to set you off on the right path.

Sustainability Summit: No one left behind – the journey to net zero

Thursday 22nd September, 8:30am – 2:30pm

This Summit will focus on the practical ways that business continuity can aim to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions in the current challenging economic climate, which are estimated to account for around 18% of all carbon dioxide emissions, ensuring this is an inclusive process, supporting all business sectors.  

On the day of the Summit, future funding streams and business support opportunities for SMEs on the path towards Net Zero will be discussed by the experts and key regional stakeholders at the summit.

Carbon Footprint – The Next Steps

This webinar is held in partnership with Loreus Ltd. This session will be delivered as an online webinar via Microsoft Teams. 

This webinar will help organisations prioritise areas of focus, provide ideas for reduction initiatives, improve future footprints, obtain verification and promote its sustainability improvements.

Midlands Energy Summit – 2022

Thursday 1st December, 8:30am – 1:30pm

East Midlands Chamber are in partnership with the University of nottingham’s Energy Innovation and Collaboration team for this event. The 2022 Midlands Energy Summit will explore how Government, business and academia come together to ensure that clean growth can underpin out future economy. 

At a time where energy prices and security are key factors to enable sustainable economic growth, the Summit will explore how the current international, national and regional landscape impacts on the future of energy creation, supply and storage. We will explore internal and external drivers that will shape end-user energy costs and the ability to meet climate change objectives.

Free access to the Zellar sustainability platform 

To help businesses on their journey to reducing their carbon footprint, the East Midlands Accelerator is providing a total of 400 one-year Zellar sustainability platform licences (worth up to £600 each). 

The platform helps businesses calculate and manage their carbon footprint, measure their performance, and create a decarbonisation plan.

Zellar is hosting dedicated online drop-in sessions for this project every Wednesday at 2pm, showing how best to use the platform to achieve sustainability goals.
