Environmental Sustainability for Aerospace Providers

Public Lecture Series – The Economics of Climate Change – How to Make it Work for Everyone

The College of Business, Law and Social Sciences are running a series of public lectures to help promote the new Business School. The first in the series will be delivered onsite at the Kedleston Road Campus by Professor Trevor Williams on Tuesday 22nd November 2022.  

Professor Trevor Williams is the former Chief Economist at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, a position he held for well over 10 years. He now runs his own consultancy specialising in economic analysis, using big data, focusing on the global economy.  He is a visiting Professor at the University of Derby, rotating Chairman of the Institute of Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee (SMPC) and is on the editorial board of Economia and the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management.

Introduction to Carbon Literacy for SMEs

Wednesday 23rd & Thursday 24th November, 9:30am – 1:00pm

Event aimed at anyone working in a micro/small to medium business.

Training will be delivered via GoTo through 2 x 3.5 hour sessions, starting on 23rd Nov and finishing on 24th Nov. There is also 1 hour of home-based activities, which are required to complete the course.

Net Zero 360: Become a sustainability pioneer – November cohorts

Clean Growth UK have scheduled 2 workshop cohorts for November 2022. The workshops are a three-part series designed to give you a solid grounding in net-zero business and introduce you to the Carbon Calculator. Various topics will be covered in these workshops and there will be plenty of time built-in for you to ask questions and get tailored advice. There will also be opportunity between sessions to ask the questions.

Midlands Energy Summit – 2022

Thursday 1st December, 8:30am – 1:30pm

East Midlands Chamber are in partnership with the University of nottingham’s Energy Innovation and Collaboration team for this event. The 2022 Midlands Energy Summit will explore how Government, business and academia come together to ensure that clean growth can underpin out future economy. 

At a time where energy prices and security are key factors to enable sustainable economic growth, the Summit will explore how the current international, national and regional landscape impacts on the future of energy creation, supply and storage. We will explore internal and external drivers that will shape end-user energy costs and the ability to meet climate change objectives.

Free access to the Zellar sustainability platform 

To help businesses on their journey to reducing their carbon footprint, the East Midlands Accelerator is providing a total of 400 one-year Zellar sustainability platform licences (worth up to £600 each). 

The platform helps businesses calculate and manage their carbon footprint, measure their performance, and create a decarbonisation plan.

Zellar is hosting dedicated online drop-in sessions for this project every Wednesday at 2pm, showing how best to use the platform to achieve sustainability goals.
