The Low Carbon Business Network is celebrating two years of supporting businesses becoming greener.

The University of Derby is extremely proud of its business-facing projects. The Low Carbon Business Network (LCBN) connects businesses that are proactively putting green practices in place across their organisation, whatever the size or sector. The LCBN is part of the ERDF funded D2EE project, that provides research development, grants and business support to eligible SMEs in the D2N2 region.

Dr Fred Paterson launched the network in November 2016, and it has since expanded from a handful of like-minded businesses to a bustling network of over a hundred members with numbers increasing every week.

The Network recognises the growing importance of environmental issues and the opportunities it creates for local businesses. The network aims to help the business grow and provide them with the information they need to make their business greener.” Dr Fred Paterson- Low Carbon Business Network, Project Lead, Coordinator of the Sustainable Business research group, Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby.

The issue of climate change is not going away and the UK Industrial Strategy shows that adopting a clean growth mindset is integral to doing business. Network members come together to present ideas and share knowledge that adds value to the local economy and members can access a host of free resources that support their business and encourages the shift towards a low carbon economy.

There are several events planned over the next couple of months aimed at businesses that supply environmental products or services and firms that are striving to be greener. These events focus on sustainable technologies, green business thinking and the wealth of support from local experts that can help improve your operations, build your skills and grow your business.

Dr Bruno Gallotta Project researcher and environmental enthusiast say, “since I became involved with the network in May the network has doubled. I am pleased to be part of the team that adds such tremendous value to a business. I help businesses reduce their carbon footprint and provide solid data that they can use to grow their business.”

The network allows businesses to add their details to our searchable network map and enable you to extend your business offerings.

“As we move forward, we  are now using the profile of the network as a springboard to do even more to connect creative innovative and energetic network members to enable collaboration and clean growth.”
